How to get perfect brows
Feb2920129:35 a.m.
Eyebrows are possibly the most defining feature of the face. In recent years brows have become big business within the beauty industry. Eyebrow fashions have changed dramatically - we have seen pencil thin ones and these days, thicker and ‘highly defined’ are the new brow trends.
As a make-up artist, I love applying make-up to brows as it can really make a difference (for the better) to the whole make-up look when they are made-up and sculpted into place. So here are some ideas on how you can enhance your brows to achieve eyebrow perfection.

Professional Brow Shape
You can’t beat a good professional brow shape! The main method of hair removal tends to be wax or thread. However, most hair removal experts use a combination of threading, tweezing, waxing and trimming, to achieve a perfect brow.
I am often asked; “which is best? Threading or waxing?". In all honesty, I have to say both are extremely effective and achieve the same result. However it is a matter of personal preference and I do believe you have to try both before you can make a decision.
For those who naturally have a good brow shape, I still highly recommend having them waxed or threaded, just to remove the fine hairs under the brow that you can’t see when tweezing. Once the fine, fluffy hairs are removed it makes eye shadow application much smoother and cleaner looking.
Tame unruly brows
If you have problems keeping wild and unruly brows tamed- keep them under control by spraying a brow brush with a bit of hairspray or clear brow gel, then gently comb brows into place.
Groom brows
When make-up is being applied, many ladies forget to apply make-up to their brows and yet it can dramatically change the look if they are made up and groomed correctly. Take a brow brush and brush hairs upwards to give them a more polished look. Then apply some brow powder, using a small angular brush that has stiff bristles. By using a brush with stiff bristles it enables powder to be distributed through the hairs whilst maintaining brow shape. Then to finish sweep through brows with clear mascara or Vaseline.

Tinting brows
Tinting is a great idea for people who have naturally fair eyebrow hair. Tinting is also good for sparse brows as it can make them appear fuller. If you have sparse or gaps in your brows- fill them in using a brow pencil, and finish with a bit of brow powder to soften the pencil lines.
Semi-permanent brows
Over the year I have met a number of clients who have over plucked their hairs and the hair has never grown back. There are two choices available when you have no brow hair, you can either pencil them in or have brows tattooed on. Brow tattooing is known as semi permanent make-up. Although the procedure can be quite costly the effect can last for a few years but will fade over time. If you do decide to have semi-permanent make-up, I advise you to try and find someone by recommendation if possible.
The images above are my own eye brows. They are threaded- I have applied a brow powder, and finished the look by brushing them with some Vaseline to fix them into place.
