Ideas for creating your wedding make-up look

I believe that every brides wedding day should not only be the most special day of her life, but her most beautiful one. She should ooze with confidence, because she looks and feels great! Over the years, I have met many brides to be, who are often clueless about the "bridal make-up look" they want to have. It is of course my job to help inspire and create a “look” that is right for them, based up on their personality and wedding theme.
So today, I wanted to write an article to help those who are looking for some inspiration, and guidance in creating their wedding day make-up look.
Does your wedding have a theme?
Consider your theme, for example; do you have a vintage theme? If so, research the internet, look through books or magazines and particularly focus on the colours used. Also the way make-up is applied to lips and eyes.
Does your wedding have a colour scheme?
It’s important to think about the colours and tones you wish to use for your make-up look, but do be careful not to select colours that are likely to clash with your colour scheme. For example: If you are using soft pinks or purples, these are soft and delicate-so it would only be right to keep the make-up soft and feminine. Therefore my advice would be to then avoid earthy tones such as bronze and browns or strong reds.
What coverage and finish do require from your foundation?
Foundation is probably one of the most important steps in the make-up routine, because it can make or break the overall look. A number of factors should be taken into account before choosing the right foundation. Do you want a light, medium full or heavy coverage? It may depend on what you feel comfortable wearing or even the time of year you get married. Most ladies like to wear lighter, or dewy foundations during the summer months, and wear something heavier or matte for a winter wedding.
Enhance your best features
Work on enhancing your best features when applying your make-up. Most women like to make the most of their eyes- fake lashes and eyeliner can be subtle yet extremely effective for doing this. Besides enhancing your best features, remember it is also just as important to hide any imperfections and flaws with concealer.
Look for inspiration
A great place to look for bridal make-up ideas is through wedding and fashion magazines. You may find it useful to make a mood board of colours and make-up looks you like, this will really help when you are looking to purchase products for your wedding make-up.
The right look will make you feel confident
Just a last bit of advice, as I explained at the start of the article, the right make-up look for you should make you feel confident, if it doesn’t, then it’s not the right look for you. When you create your look do remember, wedding day make-up is an occasion make-up, and be careful not to go overboard and look asthough you are going for a night out.

The images used in this article are from a wedding make-up job I worked on last year. Clare (the bride) had the most beautiful dress, it was very glamorous and therefore she wanted to have a more full and glamorous make-up look. I am sure you will agree-she looked beautiful!
I do hope this article has given you a little food for thought and is helpful for you, when creating your wedding make-up look.
Until next time,
Happy Make-uping!
