In my previous post I revealed my top summer beauty tips-I do hope you enjoyed them.
Summer is my favourite time of the year therefore I have decided to keep the “summer time beauty” theme. So today’s blog is about one of the all time, most popular summer beauty treatments, and that is… waxing!
Waxing is a treatment that many avoid, simply because they worry about pain factor. However, for those who have been bold and brave enough, will know all too well what an effective and beneficial treatment waxing is. In fact, waxing boosts confidence and an ideal treatment to have for holidays and honeymoons.
Here I will share with you the benefits and everything you need to know about waxing. The following will be particularly helpful to those who have never been waxed before.

About Hot and Warm Wax
There are two types of wax available these are, “Warm Wax” and “Hot Wax.” Warm wax is more effective on large areas of the body such as legs and arms. This type of wax is applied to the body and removed with a paper or material strip. Hot wax, is usually used on sensitive areas, or where hair is coarse or stubborn, such as facial, bikini, underarms. The wax is applied, and removed directly from the skin without need of a paper strip.
What are the benefits of waxing? Waxing is a far more effective form of hair removal than shaving, unlike shaving, hair is removed from the root. Therefore it takes longer to grow back-usually around 3 weeks and in some cases longer. Regular waxing treatments are recommended, because hair generally tends to grow back thinner, and sparse.
How long does hair have to be to wax? Around the size of a grain of rice, usually the ideal time to book a waxing appointment is approximately 3 weeks after you have shaved.
How long will the results last? It varies with each person but usually a minimum of three weeks.
Does waxing hurt? Find a good waxing professional and you should not experience pain, because a waxing expert will be quick and efficient in their work.
After your waxing treatment:
After you have had your waxing treatment, it is advisable to wear loose clothing and avoid any form of heat treatments such as the sauna, steam room and sun beds for up to 24-48 hours after treatment. It is also advised to not apply lotions, perfume or deodorants until 48 hours after wax. Also be aware, if you would like a spray tan and a wax, then treatments need to be carried out on separate days. The wax should be done 48 hours before spray tan.
How to take care of your skin 2-3 days after wax treatment:
All areas that have been waxed should be cleansed on a daily basis and moisturised to keep the skin looking healthy. Regular exfoliation is recommended to prevent in-grown hairs.
Avoid waxing treatments:
People should avoid waxing who are undergoing skin thinning treatments such as Retin- A or Accutane, also those who are diabetic or have hypersensitive skin.
Until next time,
Happy Waxing!
