"Homeymoon"

Would anyone consider a "homeymoon" as opposed to a honeymoon? You could go to your favourite restaurants and bars, visit your favourite places, go for picnics, day trips, spa treatments, the cinema, the theatre, romantic walks-all the things you might do on a honeymoon, but knowing you'll come home to the comfort of your own bed etc...
I like this idea as I am a home person. Plus, it's great going abroad but the food isn't always great, and I love the restaurants in my local area so I'd rather go there!

Sounds like a lovely idea, then the honeymoon will never really end

Ah but in a way, this could be a bad thing, don't you think? Reality needs to hit at some point, and usually arriving home after a holiday does this.

As much as this sounds like a lovely idea, I feel like I don't want to see the regular people I normally see. That sounds really snobby and rude, but on my honeymoon I want it to be special. I want to start off married life by visiting places I've never been before, and doing things i've always dreamed of. We can go to the local restaurant on our next date night, but honeymooning should be a different experience altogether in my opinion.

I agree with Laura, honeymoon should be special and in my opinion I rather it be somewhere I'm not going to spend probably the rest of my life. I'd definitely rather save up for ages and go abroad than doing the cheaper option and staying at home.

I think it's a fantastic idea. Gets you back to normal after the big wedding day. Lounging around in your pyjamas at home with a takeaway sounds like the perfect honeymoon to me! :p

I think this sounds like a really nice idea, it's a nice, romantic way to ease into your life together.

I love this idea in theory, but I wonder if once you were at home you would be tempted to go back to normal life and be distracted by things like bills, friends and family (not that I don't love my friends and family!). At least when you're away you have no option but to do nothing but relax and enjoy each other's company.
If you were to go somewhere like the Maldives then you would literally have to relax, read and enjoy living in the moment. But I can understand how having access to the likes of the internet, shops and mundane tasks would be a distraction if you stayed at home.
