Q I'm wanting a really fifties vintage look but don't really feel like I want one of those beehive style veils. What are my other options?
A Two of my favourite accessories for fifties style outfits are birdcage veils or a really glamorous headpiece like a comb or hairband – you definitely don't need to stick with the traditional poofy veils.

I've got a really high-fitting dress to wear to my son's wedding, but I'm a bit worried about what jewellery to wear with it that won't look over the top. Do you have any suggestions?
Higher necklines can cause a bit of bother with necklaces as you don't want your jewellery to fight with the neckline. I tend to think you're better off going with a really great pair of earrings and a stunning bracelet, but if you're also keen to explore... Read more
I'm really struggling to find bridal shoes that fit. I have extremely wide feet and always hate shoe shopping as a result, but don't want to be uncomfortable all day with pinching shoes. Do you know where I can get some classy but wide fitting shoes?
I too have very wide feet so feel your pain! There are a few options. Next are doing a range of wide fitting shoes, which includes some bridal shoes. You could also try Rainbow Club, who have also released a range of wide fitting shoes. Alternatively,... Read more
As the groom, I want to have a grey suit while my groomsmen will have black. However, my mother says that we all need to match. Is she right?
No, you don't need to match, and in fact it's nice for you to stand out from your grooms. However, it's a good idea to stick to the same silhouette and style as your groomsmen to create a sense of symmetry. Read more

I really love some of the edgier bridal fashions out there at the moment, but my personal style is more traditional. Is it a good idea to go edgy, or should I stick with my usual style?
Ultimately, buy what you feel comfortable and beautiful in. If you put on an edgier gown and think that you look amazing in it (without any doubts), go with that. If however you're feeling even slightly uncomfortable, try something a little more in your... Read more
I'm reasonably slim but with some bits that I'm not too happy with. I'm about to buy my wedding dress online, but was wondering if there's a particular type of fabric I should go for to hold things in place?!
If you're wanting lots of support, it's a good idea to opt for heavier fabric like a silk satin, heavy silk, or lace. Avoid lighter fabrics that tend to slinkier and more unforgiving. Read more
My favourite colour is blue, and my bridesmaid's favourite colour is green. I decided that to keep us both happy, I'd use both as my colour scheme. However since I've been told that blue and green clash!! Is that right?
Uh, no, it's not right – otherwise, peacock feathers would look terrible, and in reality they look awesome. You just need to put the right combination of blue and green together. Why not try pinterest.com or Google Images for inspiration, (try “blue and... Read more
We're having a cocktail reception for our wedding, and my mother is wearing a long cocktail dress. However my aunt is now stressing about what to wear as she's quite a lot older and larger than my mother! What do I tell her?
You can find lovely age-appropriate formal dresses that are long and suit a larger woman, but if she's more comfortable with a shorter gown, that would be fine too. Just tell her to make sure she's has some great accessories, and she'd be fine in anything... Read more
I've been married before and have chosen a light powdery blue to get married in. However I don't know what colour to put my bridesmaids in – any ideas?
It depends on what colours you've chosen for your grooms, but pale blue can look gorgeous with black, or a bright red, or a bright yellow, or a sludgy dark grey, or a chocolate brown. The one thing I would avoid is putting your bridesmaids in pastels –... Read more
I'm getting married in the morning and want a dress that has beading and sparkles on it. However my dress consultant has told me in no uncertain terms that I ought to wear a plain gown for a morning wedding and that to do otherwise is tacky. Is she right?
Personally I'd ignore her. Whilst beads and sparkles are supposed to be reserved for more evening affairs with evening gowns, I'd say that you have more freedom with a wedding dress, and if you want a bit of bling go for it. It's not tacky at all - unless... Read more
